2006 - 2008
In September 2006, a new ASMSI president, the incumbent Ms. Eden Cabrera, batch 1993 was elected. Her challenge as a President was to raise more ASMSI funds that will help finance its projects. Her initial move was the forming of a cooperative for ASMSI. The initial project under it was the setting up of “Eat Matters Canteen” at Canlubang, Laguna in February 2007.
It’s so good to note that the ASMSI Development Cooperative was finally registered last July 05, 2007 under the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) with registration No. LGA-6991.
It was also at this time that ASMSI handled the micro-loan program for the newly graduated working boys and girls. The financial assistance that the Sisters used to give to the working graduates became ASMSI’s responsibility. The welfare program for graduates through Micro-loan for small enterprise was also started.
During this term, and with the help and initiative of ASMSI web team, a new and better website was launched. The newly-developed website makes it easier for graduates to interact. It contains alumni database obtained from SMS wherein only bonafide alumni can log-in and search for fellow alumni using the members' directory tool. With this tool, reaching out to any graduate has never been this easy, provided however, that the alumni have logged in and updated their latest profile.
ASMSI also started rendering a more significant career orientation/pre-employment seminar workshop among graduating class. Its objective is for the students to be equipped with practical pointers in their future work places or schools.
In its little ways, ASMSI continued giving out small donations (in cooperation with other graduates) for special SMS occasions like Sisters Feast Day, Mother’s Day Celebration, Children’s Birthday, Grand Marian procession and a lot more. Outreach activities (however limited) were also done like donations in kind to the victims of typhoons (in Bicol) and to Sisters of the Little Mission for the Deaf & the Deaf Community: Youth and Adult Ministry.
In an effort of extending help in the process of our founder’s beatification and canonization (in cooperation with Fr. Al’s Commission Office or FACO), several activities like Spiritual Bouquet for Fr. Al, Benefit Lunch project for a Cause, regular Recollections and Retreats were conducted to spiritually partake in our mission of bringing Fr. Al into the Altar of God in the company of other Saints. Several other fund raising activities were also held to help in this cause.
