August 15, 2010 Silver Anniversary/Schedule of Activities Share

Let us congratulate the Sisters of Mary in the Philippines in their 25 years of serving the poorest of the poor in the name of Christ. Happy Silver Anniversary on August 15, 2010! We are grateful to have been part and recipient of Fr. Al’s charity programs!

A lot of the graduates even from abroad are excited to go back to the Philippines for this occasion. They said that it’s also providential that the date falls on a Sunday when many or most of them could come. Please understand, though, that the date falls when the children will have their own schedule with their respective sister-in-charge(our traditional Aug 15 celebration), so we ask your forbearance for some notes after below schedule:

5:00 am - START OF REGISTRATION (No registration fee shall be collected but you're encouraged to donate for the March to Million Project, buy alumni handbook & buy Concert ticket 

until 10:00 am - Personal prayer, Visit at Fr. Al's Museum, Bonding per Batch/per Group

10:00 am - Inauguration of the new Building/Infirmary near the SMS Campus

10:30 am - Holy Mass with the Children & Alumni with Papal Nuncio as Mass Presider at the Gym

11:45 am - Coffee Table Book Launching

12:00 nn - L U N C H

1:30 pm - Distribute goodies/gifts for the children, watching children's activities/picture taking for/with the children (pls. avoid disrupting . Let us not intervene with their activities. We'll just be there as spectators.

3-5 pm - Concert at the Auditorium: Dingson Balahadia with Artists from the National Commission for Culture & the Arts (for guesting: pls. coordinate with 6th batch - Program Coordinators)

7pm - Program cont. of Concert at the Gym (with SMS children) with special GUESTS---We'll post later as we are yet to get their final confirmation


Hosts/Sponsors for the August 15 Celebration with the children will be the Batch 2000 & our pioneer batches from Batch 1990-1995, who are assigned on the following:

a. Registration, Ads, Decors, Tents - Batch 2000

b. Ice cream for the children plus Jollibee Mascot - Batch 1994

c. Family photo/picture per student - Batch 1991 & 1993 - Some time this July preferably on a Sunday photographers from those batches may visit here and at the Boystown to take photo of all the children per family. The children will then be given 1 copy each student of their family picture). Better do this on one Sunday after the Mass when children are on their Sunday uniform. Many photographers are encouraged since there are many families. Assign per year level/ per floor. Schedule the date so the Sisters could be advised.

d. Pop Corn Machine (and material for Popcorn making) plus Blender - c/o Batch 1992 - These will be the special prizes to be given to selected students whom the Sister-in-charge will recommend. They will be given stubs to claim the prize. The booths may be located somewhere at the sides of the Gym where the children may claim their prize and it shall be done after lunch, after the event at the Gymnasium. There should also be somebody to be assigned at Adlas.

e. Cotton Candy & Program Coordinator - Batch 1995 - Similarly, special prizes shall be given to students at both campuses.

f. Snacks for the Sisters, Snack & Dinner for ASMSI Guests - c/o Batch 1990

Since the children after lunch will have their own program, we would only distribute to them our gifts (as per assignment). However, we can mingle with them or watch their activities and take pictures provided that the venue of their activities are just downstairs - at the Gym, at the track/oval or at the surrounding basketball courts. On both campuses, we are not allowed to go upstairs.

Please understand also that the occasion falls on the children's bday celebration where the Sisters & children will be very busy, so when it comes to food stuff, we are encouraged to bring our own, or have a potluck per group/per batch. Some drinks may be available at the Memorabilia Canteen.

It is likewise reminded that each batch vote for their Batch Representatives (one from Girls & one from Boys). Please give the result at the alumni office after your election/appointment of Batch Reps. Board of Trustees election is set on September 19, 2010.

On the Aug 15, we are also encouraged to wear decent clothes in going inside the campus.

Thank you! Let us have fun and reminisce the days... It's gonna be a tough celebration but what is important is putting in our hearts the Spirit of the Sisters of Mary, the Spirit of Fr. Al!
